How are you all doing on battery life? I'm down to 30% after light usage after taking it off the charger around 7:45am and it's only 8:30pm now, battery seems to go down much earlier than my iPhone 6 which is almost 2 years old. Any ideas on how to help battery life? I thought this was a much better lasting phone? The huge drop after 4, I never even touched the thing.

Will that effect any needed apps?

At the risk of sounding stupid, I'm new to Android, I don't know which app exactly to check?
Google Locations basically checks your location constantly and stores it. It uses information like Cell IDs and Wi-Fi routers to locate and place your device.

Cloud and Accounts>Account>Google

Go through your sync settings and disable the ones you don't need.

I did read a few articles where the battery life on the Note 7 was not particularly very good in general. Sounds like it may be a one of the downfalls to this Phone besides what other forum members have suggested above.

Good luck with your new Phone.

Well my battery life with my S7 edge on average I got about 3 hours, 30 mins to 4 hours screen time and about 15-18 hours total. There weren't many times where I got over 24 hours for example.

I expect to get similar times on my note 7. Certainly not end of the world as long as it lasts you all day that's a the main thing but least with my 6s plus I know I didn't always need to charge it everyday

I've been regularly getting 5-6 hours screen on time and 18-19 hours usage in total on my S7 edge. If the note 7 can achieve similar results I'll be extremly happy.

I don't have a SIM card in my 6S Plus so I can't compare them. But my N7 seems to at least be keeping pace with my SE. It does eat up battery at a faster pace on Pokemom Go, but that's not surprising since I've made no attempt at power management at all, running it at stock settings and auto brightness just to torture test it at "lazy user luxury setting". By contrast, I power manage the heck out of my iOS devices and shut down every location service setting I can.

With the N7 I've been letting it Big Brother me to death. Google and At&T and Samsung probably even know when I'm in the bathroom at this point.

I did however deny all but the bare minimum of permissions on Pokemon Go. That stupid game dared to ask for access to my contacts. I guess Pikachu wants to text my mom to let him out of the Pokeball.

This is the only downfall that may see me returning it before the 14 days is up, To not even make it a full day on a charge with light use is not good, Hopefully I can find a way to make it last, I made one 2 minute call this morning after taking it off the charger and it was down to 97%

See I dont want to always have to turn GPS off and go other tweaks in order to get decent battery life. I wish Google would handle GPS like iOS. That is one huge pet peeve of mine. I might try turning GPS to Wifi and Mobile networks to see if I see a difference. I hate having it on and then using an app that requires GPS and then I have to go and turn it on and then use the app, frustrating.

That's the thing, I do NOT want to rely on having to tweak stuff to get battery life, I just don't have the time in my life and don't feel that a $900 phone should have to be tweaked. I do like the power saving modes though. Last night it said I had about 17 hours left with 80% charge, but if I went to the 3rd power saving option it would be 46 hours!! I'll definitely be experimenting with this, maybe for my commute as I like to have Waze on for 2-3 hours per day. It's pretty fast to apply the power saving modes and doesn't need a reboot. Anyone come across a widget that gives you one button application of power saving mode?

Edit: never mind I see the power saving button in quick settings. The change is slower than I thought, especially when going back to normal it seems to take forever for widgets to load. I suspect its hanging on the dark theme. I think the phone needs a custom power saver mode where you can choose your options.

Today oddly is much better even though I used it a little more, I'm around 50% at 10pm where last night I was around 25% at this time.

I think this battery life is about to be a little suspect. I took my device off the charger leaving for work this morning and it dropped a percentage in 15 mins of it just being in my pocket....Not sure whats draining it but I will try to change my GPS to Wifi and mobile networks today from the full GPS and see if that makes a difference. Once I feel like I am turning a bunch of features off to compensate for the lack battery life, im ditching it.

Same - off the charger at 7:30, down to 96% at 8:30, phone was in my pocket the entire hour. My 6 plus would have been at 99 or 100%.

Yeah im going to really have to watch this closely because if its going to continue this, I am honestly going to be done with Samsung forever because I keep giving them a try and its ALWAYS the same results and I go right back to the iPhone.

I had great battery life over the weekend but now with the work week well on its way, I'm getting around 3hrs of SOT. However, I work in a building where the cell signal is weak so I'm sure that factors in.

Same here...at work where the cell reception is weak my battery just sucks. But when it doesn't have to work so hard to get a signal my battery life is the same as my S7 edge was. Right around 5 to 6 SOT.
