Note disappeared when restore

Right now I can smach my iPhone 3GS to the ground and that might help ease my frustration. If this the way note are disappearing I might as well never use it again. For some reason my entire day of work gone from my iPhone and they are nowhere on my Mac. I feel like I've been robbed an entire day of my life. I connected the iPhone to my Mac it asked me to restore usually it back up first or asked me but this time no. It just erase new information and tells me there is an error. Can't explain my frustration in words. My work are gone hopelessly and I need them. I mean I'm hoping they are somewhere because all I did by mistake of course is restore. Before restore there's alway a back up why not now? Any body with slightest idea out there please come to my rescue. I NEED those notes!
