Is anyone actually going to buy it full price from AT&T? That's going to be over $1,000 with taxes. Practically the price of a brand new laptop

I've heard it's $870 with t-mobile and $840 with sprint. Verizon hasn't released any pricing yet.

How does AT&T get away with charging so much?

This looks like a pretty cool device but I can't imagine paying this much for it.

With more people doing installment plans, the less sense it makes to go into a contract. Installments will be 35-40 a month, so it's only a matter of a couple dollars difference then other high end phones,

It's essentially the same price as an Iphone 6 plus top model 128GB

Here's some phones for comparison

Note edge AT&T - $945.99
Iphone 6 plus top model 128 GB - $949.99
Iphone 6 plus mid model 64 GB 849-99
Note 4 AT&T - $825.99
Note 4 Verizon - $699.99
Nexus 6 All carriers - $649.99

But the thing we all know about Iphones, is they keep their resale value much better than other phones. So in the long term, you could be losing quite a bit of money by going with the Samsung for such a big price.

This is true, Samsung has their heads in the Apple cloud. Their pricing for their tablets and phones is beyond me. They charge 200$ extra just for the "Galaxy" name.

That's a pretty damn expensive phone.

Just phones in general are getting kinda ridiculous in price, and now these phone companies are hiding the cost in a contract that is growing to car payment lengths.

It's nuts.

Yeah. Phones are getting way expensive. I mean, an iPhone 6 plus costs as much as a laptop. The same goes for this Note Edge.

^^ anymore like cars, you're best off buying a previous generation phone. Looking at the market, you can pick up a Note 3 for like $250-$350 easily.

If I broke mine today, I'd buy a used Note 3 way before a new Note 4. I may sit one generation behind but like PC's the performance and capabilities of phones is leveling off. No need to have the latest generation anymore.

By doing this, I can buy a new phone every year and spend less on three years of upgrades than I would if I just bought 1-2 new ones.

The Edge is really expensive! 32GB Edge for $945.99? What in the world is Samsung smoking? You really can't compare a 128GB iPhone 6 Plus ($949.99) to a 32GB Edge ($945.99).

Note edge for $945.99

iPhone 6 64gb is €800 here, thats just fraction under $1000 dollars

6 plus 64gb is €900 or $1120

You don't have exclusivity on expensive phones America ;)

Sure you can. The Edge supports microSD cards while the iPhone doesn't. And with the advent of Android Lollipop SD cards will once again have greater support. I guess if the only thing you are comparing is storage, then you have a point.

I was referring to the higher end models. Like the note pro 12.2 or tab s series.
If that's the case, I think your understanding of the tablet market is skewed. What is the average price for a 12+" tablet with active pen selling for that the Note Pro is $200 more?

My 6+ does all I need a laptop for.....

Of course, that doesn't stop me from owning one (a laptop), because I have a problem.....lol.

Let's face it, these things are personal computers/assistants in the palm of your hand.

I tend to relate the price I spend on something to my usage of it. Including the service plan, I'll pay about $2200 over the next year for my iPhone 6+ (128GB at $1000, roughly $100/month for my 20 GB of data and talk/text).

Divide that out by how many hours a day I use the device and what I use it for, and it's totally worth it.

To compare I spent roughly the same amount on washer and dryer and I use those maybe once a week.

Mos flagships here start at $1000 NZD anyway....this will be 1.3k probably, which can buy you a MBA...or a 64GB iPhone 6+
