I might give up my iphone 5 to purchase a note II. Is it worth getting even though it has been out for a few months?

Very much worth it. I love mine.

I went from a 4S to Nexus 4 and settled on a Note 2.

Going back to an iPhone now would be difficult.

Well the note 3 is not due until the end of the year, so you are good there. The s4 is getting revealed in 2 weeks. If anything you may want to wait until then and then make your decision.

Same as others. Longtime iPhone user who switched first to a Nexus 4 and then to Note II and have zero regrets--love the large screen and have no problems with pocketability or using it one-handed (in most cases ;)).

The only time moving from iOS to Android (or vice-versa) is an issue or worth worrying about - is how invested in the App Store you already are, and whether you mind potentially re-purchasing some or most of your applications again.

It's for this reason I have both an android and iOS device, I'm too invested in either to five up one over the other.

My only worry is that since I can't have both if I give up the iphone iOS 7 will be very fresh and amazing and the note won't get key lime pie :/

My Note II does more than anything apple could ever offer with iOS7. The original Note has been updated to JB so I don't see any issues with the Note II.

I didn't want to drop a ton of money on the Note 2 if I didn't like the transition from iOS to Android. So I went out and bought a used Note. Right now it's just being used on my home network, I might go get it activated tomorrow. Everyone that I've talked to that has the Note models love them. My wife had a customer at work that had the Note 2 and she told her that I want to try it out, the lady said she switched from the iPhone 5 and will never go back.

JB for Note is suppose to be released April 2013.

Wow you know all the features iOS 7 has to offer to be able to dismiss it so casually ?

Its great you love your Note 2 (for many its a great phone) but you can't make claims about an unreleased OS and be taken seriously.

Why can't you have both? I own a Note 2 but also have an iPad and and a new iPod touch, which is basically an iPhone 5. Best of both worlds.

Based on apples history, yes. Do you honestly think apple will add even half the features android and samsung has to offer into iOS7?

Oops, was thinking of the S3.

Although there are ways to get JB now if you can't wait for an official update.

Agreed.....I'll be stunned if Apple adds a notification light (finally).

At the very least I would expect the Note II to drop in price when the S4 is released.

Admittedly that's not based on knowledge of past price drops, it's just what I would expect to happen.

I would doubt it because it's two different types of customer. That is assuming it does not have an s pen.

Samsung would have you believe it's two different types of customer, but they're not THAT different.

It's essentially the same device, but one is a bit larger and has stylus features. :p

That isn't what I have gathered from Samsung, but from real life encounters. Currently you are talking about 4.8 and 5.5. That is a big difference, stylus aside.

The only thing that's keeping me from getting a Note 2 at the moment is the screen. Coming from an iP4S, I find it really dim. Also the whites seem to have a quite strong blue tint.

What are you guys' thoughts on this? Does one get used to it or does it annoy you too, but you just choose to live with it because of all the functionality you'd miss out on by getting another phone? Or is it possible to calibrate the screen beyond those five presets?

The note 2 screen is freakin binding at max brightness, much brighter than my ip5. There is definitely a blue tint to it though, since I use both an ip5 and a note 2 I notice it every time I use my note, its annoying but not the end of the world.

The note 2 and s4 fill different niches in my opinion. The s4 will take the place of the s3, feeling the board general smartphone user niche, while the note 2 is more of a productivity machine in my mind. It has a lot of useful features not found on the s3 or (persumably) the s4.

Luxky my hands are large enough that the note doesn't feel too big at all, I can still use it one handed.

That being said I came from an i5 to a note 2, with absolutely no regret. Wonderful phone, I highly recommend it. It also packs hardware to make it rather future proof for the next couple years.
