Hello, I am currently waiting for iPad 8th gen, and based on the rumours new Air variant might not launch this fall..

I mainly want to use Ipad for reading note making and some multimedia.

I see there are two different types of screens laminated nd non laminated and I strongly believe Ipad 8th won't be having laminated screen..

So my point is how good and effective is Ipad base variant with non laminated screen for note taking, if the experience is not very good then there is no point of waiting for 8th gen ipad and I ll start looking out for Air 3 deal and fetch one as soon as it comes back in stock..

Thanks

Opinions on the screen lamination on this forum will vary greatly from “doesn’t matter” to “night and day differences”.

The basic iPads are sold to educational institutions worldwide hence the note taking will work just fine. Do the more expensive iPads have slightly better displays? Sure thing.

For sole note taking I would get the most affordable iPad in the screen size you like, then try that as Apple gives you 2 weeks return period.

I personally take written notes on an iPad Pro first gen daily and it works great.

It will work fine. You wont notice the non-laminated screen during normal use/note taking.

Note taking was one of the biggest features for me when purchasing my first iPad a little over a week ago.
I purchased the Air 3 and have been heavily using the pencil for the last couple of days whilst writing notes from some Microsoft YouTube tutorials and the experience has been amazing. I don‘t believe there will be much of a difference between this and the base iPad for notes, although I will admit that I have not used the 7th gen to compare.

Yeah, or maybe I will wait for a couple of more weeks here and let the stores open as 2 weeks return thing is not applicable here( unless the devices has some manufacturing defect/ broken)

I agree the baseline is there for the educational purposes only and note taking should work just fine
