Is it dangerous if I put my notebook in sleep mode and I carry it around? Would the HD or another part could get damaged?

I ask this because of the recent "discovery" of how to solve the noise problem in the MBP. It says it makes the boot slower, so I am in doubt of what happens if you keep the MBP in sleep mode while walking in college or in the car, etc.

I've never had an issue with sleeping any of my Apple laptops - a G3 Lombard PB, a 12" G4 PB, or my current MBP. I wouldn't worry about it - the HD is not spinning and all should be well. Just know that there is a minor drain on the battery - very minimal - when sleeping as opposed to when off.

Shouldn't have any problems - you won't have any problems.

Sleep is just a low power mode to save the contents of the RAM, no HD disk activity is going on. :)

I do i tall the time with my MBP, not a problem at all. Notebook has no heat t all when it's in sleep mode. I actually sleep it when my notebook gets too hot.

on another note

the white pulsing light on the mbp which comes on whilst sleeping must be one off these power drains, but, it lights up my room in the night. anyway to turn it off, or shall i just keep to my sticking a book infront of it to mask it mehod?

When I carry my 12" iBook or 12" PB (or my Fujitsu Tablet PC), I put them in the sleep mode to carry them around. I have never had problems with this arrangement. I travel quite a bit for business by car (up to 500 miles ONE way and more than double that for the whole trip) and during which my Mac is in sleep mode in the dedicated computer bag (either Brenthaven or Blooq bags).

One of many good things about Mac is this sleep feature. It just wakes up in a few secs after opening the lid (and sleeps immediately after closing the lid). My Windows PC has never done this "gracefully" as there is some screen flicker here and there and takes a few more seconds than Mac.
