Is there any way to make the side menu font bold in the Notes app? The font was much darker in Yosemite and now it's really light and looks washed out.

If so, can I make it larger also? I haven't done the Notes update yet because my iPad is on iOS 8.3. Does the update version have a darker side menu?

Here is what I mean with images:

Washed out Menu Bar on iCloud Notes

Menu Bar looks okay on "All On My Mac"

This is truly a mystery. I don't get why the Notes Menu Bar looks fine on On My Mac, but not on iCloud Notes. If I update my iCloud Notes on El Capitan, Notes will no longer sync with my iPad 4 because it's on iOS 8.3 jailbroken. This is true, isn't it?

I think the bold is probably to visually separate notes that are iCloud sync'd vs not, in case you accidentally wrote something thinking it's on the cloud, but it was actually on your drive. Especially true if the side bar is hidden.

Yes if you upgrade, your old iOS won't sync with the new notes. It says so under "Learn More" when you click on Upgrade.

Oh boy, I made a mistake in my post. Sorry. It's not the menu bar I'm talking about. It's the heading of the note that is in bold on the On My Mac image (like it used to be in Yosemite Notes) and the iCloud headings aren't bold.

Just to be clear: When you click on a folder name in the iCloud section is stays gray, but when you click on a folder name in the On My Mac section it turns blue. If you click on the center column (folder contents) or a note body the selected folder name turns gray for both iCloud and On My Mac to indicate that active location is no longer the folder list.

If the above is true, then my guess is that the pending Upgrade causes the behavior. Since I have done the upgrade, the active folder entry behaves as expected for either iCloud or On My Mac.

The arrow points to the heading of each Note. I have over 150 Notes on iCloud and the headings aren't bold at all.

As a comparison, the On My Mac Notes image in my other post, the headings are bolded which is the normal way.

So this is what I'm stuck with until I upgrade my Notes on my MBP. This sucks. I want my iPad 4 jailbroken in iOS 8 because I can't live without the F.lux app. Another reason, I didn't want to take the chance of slowing down my iPad 4 on iOS 9 and then being unable to downgrade again.

Sorry, I mis-interpreted which list you were talking about. I was looking at the folder list, not the note list within a folder.

I don't have an answer. My guess is that since the iCloud section is still using the old plain text format, the note list now uses plain text for the note title.

Hey, my post was confusing. I've decided to upgrade my iPad 4 to iOS 9.02 so Notes are updated on my iOS devices.

I've updated El Capitan Notes and it's back to normal. So that is what is was. Thanks for your help.

In case there is someone else that experiences this Notes issue, here is an image of my Notes in El Capitan after I updated. Quite a difference between before (see Post #6 above) and after.

Screen Shot 3.png

A bit pissed that I can no longer sort my notes alphabetically. There is no option. I can't even put a 1 or a couple of dashes in front of the title to make a note stay up at the top. I can't believe this option has been taken out.

Does anyone know if El Capitan 10.11.1 beta has the option to sort Notes alphabetically?

No, it doesn't. And I'm furious about it.

No way. I thought Apple would put that feature back in pretty fast. It's such a basic and important feature. So Notes on El Capitan is now like iOS.

Apple should let us know what features are removed so that we can make informative decisions to upgrade or not. Now that I clicked to upgrade Notes in El Capitan and my iDevices, I can't go back. I'm stuck not being able to sort alphabetically until who knows when.
