Can anyone help answer this question about notes sharing please?

Currently my wife and I have separate desktop machines running Yosemite with our own iCloud accounts. We each have our own notes on our iPhones but also have a sharing iCloud account for shared notes.

It seems that the IOS 9 notes app will still allow you to sync IMAP notes (although not with the new features) so if we upgrade to IOS 9 for our main accounts it will still be possible to share a generic IMAP notes account for shared notes. In a similar way does the new El Cap notes app also allow you to still access IMAP email notes or is it restricted to the new iCloud notes?

Finally I cannot see any way of an IOS 9 device accessing more than one iCloud notes account ay once. With IOS 8 you could do this as the notes were in IMAP but if we all move our main notes to iCloud how can they be shared dynamically? Or will iCloud notes not be shareable and you have to create an IMAP email account for notes you want to share?

Like the new drawing features, but I am worried that a lot of sharing functionality might be lost!

Thanks

Robin.

Yes I understand that bit it seems to me that now the notes are stored in iCloud and you can only have one iCloud account on any iOS machine or OS X machine you might not be able to share notes accounts in the way you could when the were stored in IMAP?

Maybe there is a better way of sharing?

Well, if your iCloud account remain in previous state, which means you don't upgrade new notes, you should be able to just sync things as usual as before.
If you upgrade, well, there would be something tricky.
Previous version of notes will remain the same. But new devices and old devices will see different notes collection. For old unsupported devices/OS, you will only see IMAP notes. For new supported devices/OS, you will see new iCloud notes. In the meantime, you cannot see each other.

Thanks, but the question is can the new upgraded El Cap app see both iCloud notes and IMAP notes? The IOS 9 app can so you can have the nest of both worlds. If anyone has upgraded to El Cap iCloud notes and could answer this I would be grateful.

thanks

If IMAP notes are provided by other providers, then the answer is OK. Absolutely.

If the provider is Apple, then the answer, would be tricky. I only have one Apple ID, and everything is tied to that Apple ID. But on my old iPhone 4, I can no longer see newly created notes in iOS 9 notes app, while iOS 9 can no longer see new notes created in iPhone 4. I think this should give you the idea. :)

You can have more than one iCloud account on iOS and Mac. My wife has her own iCloud account, but added mine as a secondary iCloud account to her iPhone, iPad, and Mac. She can then access my iCloud notes, which we share.
