I’ve noticed that Notes is now generating new notes automatically. It seems to be a like to a news article or something like that. It’s not, for example, something I read and it‘s reminding me to read it but rather a suggestion to read something. This is very irritating. Is there any way to shut this off?

Have you perhaps created or accepted a shared note with someone(s) else and that person(s) is sticking news articles & similar in the note?
No. I’ve never shared a note.

ive been poking around and I see an option “Let Siri learn from this app”. I’m wondering if it’s “learning” my reading habits and suggesting these nots for me. There doesn’t seem to be a universal button to shut this off for all apps - like there is for notifications.

I see nothing online about anyone else reporting this issue. Since you aren't sharing notes, you should also think about whether someone has shared a note with you at some point. A shared note has a little icon of a a person's shoulders & head in a circle to theft of the note...

If this problematic note doesn't show the icon, it's probably not that.

Do you perhaps share iCloud or another Apple device with someone else, who may be creating a note on your Mac or other iDevice that then lands in this one's notes app. For example, if I create a note on Mac, it "spontaneously" shows up on my iDevice and vice versa. If someone else had access to my other device and created a note, it would seem to be magically doing what you are describing.

Some people use notes like a scratch pad. If someone is using another Apple device on your own account, maybe they are sticking a new story in a note wanting to get to it later?

If you think perhaps there could be anything to this, you might try turning off iCloud Notes for a little while and see if it spontaneously creates one of these. That would rule out anyone else with known access and/or perhaps someone else with unknown access from using your AppleID iCloud or maybe an old device still linked to your account.

Else, I start guessing a unique bug or your iCloud account MIGHT be hacked (which a simple change of password could test that probably-wrong guess). If the former, someone else will need to chime in saying they have the problem too for it to be a potential Apple OS bug. As is right now, this appears to be unique to you.

I really appreciate your thoughts, but it doesn't look like any of this. It definitely looks system generated and seems to be a suggestion. I’ll post a screen shot the next time I see it.

I just had this today as well. Very strange. I was just adding Sausage to a reminder and this shows up

I’ve not seen one like that. Mine have made new notes with a link like you showed. Still, seems like the same mechanism is generating that “stuff”. Hopefully we can figure out what it is and shut it off.

So this showed up today. I subscribe to the UK times and I did read this article. Then, when I went into notes today this new note showed up. Would really like to shut this off from doing this.

That’s odd. They don’t have some quick icon to add a reminder that is accidentally being tapped or anything?

Pretty sure not. I’ll look and I’ll also pay attention to see if it comes from another site to try to narrow this down. I think I’ve seen it from other sites.

Just looked in my recently deleted notes and there is one from my local paper. So it doesn’t seem specific to one external site. I feel like this is some type of Siri thing trying to “make my life easier”, when in reality, it’s creepy.

"They" in Apple... probably. Looks like a "Add to Quick Note" result. But at least on my phone I get a big honking Note to hit Save on.

Also have that in Share Sheets.

So MAYBE being a bit quick with one's swipes, taps, etc??
