Quelle Surprise. More bugs.

My notes are no longer syncing/showing on my Mac after updating to OS X 10.10.1.

Who actually tests this stuff before releasing it?

I've signed out/in of iCloud, turned off/on notes and nothing.:eek:

I have to say I'm getting increasingly frustrated with Apple after iOS 8 and Yosemite. Just works my a$$!!

My notes are syncing perfectly, only thing I noticed is that its just taking a few (~10) seconds longer than usual but thats no train smash

Only thing I had was Notes being unchecked in iCloud settings post 10.10.1 update. Selected it again and Notes are once again syncing between rMBP and iOS devices.

Mine was checked but still not syncing. I'll have a play with tonight and see if I can figure it out. As long as they're not deleted I don't care too much. They're on my iPhone anyway.

Same for me - had to uncheck Notes, reboot and then they appeared again. On a similar Note (no pun intended!) I also sync notes with Exchange. I'm now now longer to set the default account - option is greyed out.

My Notes only syncs the recent 19 items. The rest are empty. There are topics in the sidebar but not in the notes themselves.
10.10.1 here.
I can see all my notes in iCloud web, iPhone and iPad, just not Mac.

Anyone has ideas to solve this. I tried checked and unchecked Notes, Restarting computer but it's still empty.

There is a slight delay. I also noticed one note I changed on the iMac, rather than changing on the iPhone, it created a new note - keeping the original. Now the devices are all synced the same. Who DOES test these things before a release?

I have this exact problem. it appears that all the notes prior to upgrading to yosemite show as empty on my macbook pro. they are accessible via the iPhone, and iCloud.com, so i know they're still there, but inaccessible on yosemite.

i use notes daily, and this is a major inconvenience. is the moral of the story that we can't trust apple's tools?

I found the solution. You need to edit your notes in iPhone or iCloud web and the notes will re-sync again. Just add a space, that'll do.
It's a pain if you have lots of notes but it's the only way I guess. I notice my first note that stuck was the one with picture attached. Guess that's the cause.

Yosemite is very buggy. I feel like I'm using Lion, or Windows Vista, all over again. The Wi-Fi is atrocious. Strangely Continuity is very reliable on my 2011 Macbook Air which was not supposed to be able to handle it, according to Apple.

Thank you for this! Although it's still awful if apple thinks this is acceptable. I have many dozens of notes so this will be a complete pain.

Notes Syncing - Problem Description

Using a single iCloud account and setting Notes to sync on the iPad,

1. Notes is not syncing properly between MBA (Yosemite 10.10.1) and iPad (iOS 8.1.1).

2. None of the notes in Notes folders on the MBA appear on the iPad.

3. If an existing note on the iPad is edited, it will appear on the on the MBA if All Notes is selected, , but not if iCloud | All iCloud or iCloud | Notes is selected.

4. Any edits of the note on the MBA do not appear on note on the iPad.

Sounds like you started using Notes before using iCloud sync and now you have multiple accounts. Same thing happened to my partner's iPad and it was because she was originally synchronising via a non-iCloud account.

A Fix or Workaround?

Argh! I did have another (Gmail) account which was confusing, so I eliminated it.

I have all the notes on the MBA, but on the iPad only recent notes created on it. So please tell me there is a workaround or fix, to resolve the problem and get all notes syncing, again.

Thanx

Sounds like that might be your problem then, your old notes have been synching by the Gmail account.

In my partner's case she didn't have very many notes so it was a case of literally copying them from one account to the other, making sure they were then synching across her devices and deleting the old.

There might be a smarter way to do it but it worked for us.

Thanks for putting me on the right track; I've finally resolved my problem.

In my case I have hundreds of notes in scores of folders, so my 'solution' was to recreate the Gmail account, which resulted in a storage structure with a Google and a second iCloud location. I figured which of the two 'iClouds' was synching and then dragged each folder from the other into it. Then I deleted the emptied 'iCloud', i.e., unchecked Notes for the errant account.

BTW and fair warning: given a large number of folders and notes, it takes awhile after performing the 'fix' on the MBA for the syncing to complete on the iPad.

I can't say I understand how its possible to have two separate iCloud accounts, but, evidently, creating a Google/Email account created the second iCloud storage.

Troubleshooting and 'fixing' the problem wasted another day.

Matrix07 fixed it for me. I found something very odd. My iPhone would sync to all devices, as would my iPad. But my Mac could not sync the reverse. Everything from the Mac existed in its own universe. Well except one in every few tries.

So I simply added a space to all my old notes for my iPhone, and then suddenly the mac can talk back once that file has been modified. There appears to be some compatibility issues with old notes.

It's times like these, where the simplicity of the app (like invisible syncing) makes it almost impossible to diagnose the problem.

Hmmm...I have two iOS9 devices happily syncing with two Yosemite devices...so it isn't just each is incompatible, must be something else that was resolved by the EC installation.

You can continue to use Notes and sync between iOS 9 and Yosemite or Mavericks as long as you don't opt for the new Notes format. Once you upgrade, you will lose syncing with any OS X older than 10.11 (and you will be warned that this is going to happen when you do.)

Ah that would figure.
