Well it came, and I am a little worried. There is NOTHING wrong with it whatsoever. Should I be concerned? No humming or grinding sounds, in fact it is so quiet I can't even tell it is on. Screen is bright even. No "dust" specs, although I may go over it for a few hours with a magnifying glass just to make sure...

All snark aside, it is an absolutely glorious machine. Just installed the ram, which took less than 5 minutes... moving files from previous machine, which should take the rest of the day. Glossy screen is no bother either, and I am right next to a large window. Impressive. For those quaking in fear from the forum posts. Don't. Be. Afraid.
cheers,
michael

are you freaking kidding me??? they're going to be all over you lol (just as I am rofl)

I just wish that members of the mcfan "advisers" club, who were trying to convince others to accept grumbling HDs and whining, tinged screens would read your post. And congrats.

yes, totally kidding...

but it is a wonderful, perfect machine. If it wasn't I would send it back, and Apple would make it right (if my gripe was legit). I had no worries.

Screen is amazing. Installing Aperture3 now... can wait to see pics on this thing. Will calibrate it in morning...
cheers,
michael

please return it immediately, keep on returning them until you get one with an issue. When the issue is discovered come back here tell us about it. Then go back to the Apple store and tell us what a wonderful experieince you had with the entire customer service experieince.

Congratulations on getting a good iMac. I envy you.

"Apple would make it right" Sorry, but I feel you are wrong. See my experiences below.

Hi!

Congratulations on your new imac computer!

By the way, which size imac computer do you have, the 21.5 inch or the 27 inch model?

Hi!

Congratulations on your new imac computer!

By the way, which size imac computer do you have, the 21.5 inch or the 27 inch model?

it's a 27". Originally my dream replacement for my white 24" was a 30" iMac, but that never materialized. The real estate is huge, even when coming from a 24". I bought the track pad, and I really like it. I do feel for those with issues, but my experience with Apple support over, many, many years has been great.

The 2tb makes zero noise. I have a Western 4tb external which also makes no noise whatsoever. Wish I could say my Maxtors and LaCies were the same way, but they are older and I am going to use them only for extra backups. The screen is much crisper than my 24", can't wait to start using Aperture with it, I am coming from 3gb of ram and the new one has 16gb.

Getting rid of my old Epson 2200, and replacing it with a Canon 9000 mark II. The Epson produced nice stuff, but it was INCREDIBLY slow (like 35-45 minutes for an 11x17, lol), also the ink cartridges clogged a lot since I didn't use it all the time. The Canon can spit out a 13x19 in less than 5 minutes. The ink should not clog as it isn't pigment based, and also the Canon's drink ink faster than a Hummer uses gas, so there should be little time for clogged heads, lol.

Should be all set up over this weekend...
