hey guys, about to take the leap upgrade my Mac Pro 1,1 to the 5355 processors.
My northbridge heatsink is running at 80c under heavy load. It used to be at 75, think it is hotter now because my new ram has no heatsinks?

Anyway, i was wondering if 80 is too hot... Should i put some new artic thermal paste on the nb heatsink? thx

I did a search before posting this thread got varied results but it seems like the Mac Pro one heatsink threshold is 80°. replacing the thermal paste could be a big job and I was wondering if you think I should do it or just turn the fans up

kicked the fans up to 750rpm from 500rpm. nb hs is a cool 60 now
