Since upgrading to macOS 14, Notification Center has been freezing frequently for me. It usually happens after unlocking the screen. Clicking on the time doesn't open the side bar and any widgets on my desktop gets the pinwheel spinner when you mouse over them. I've tried killing the NotificationCenter process, but I can't get it to restart properly. It appears the process is running again but nothing works. I have to log out and back in for it to work again but it will just inevitably freeze again the next time I unlock it. Anyone else having this problem?

I am having this problem as well. On a side-note, are you able to access your Focus settings in System Settings when this is happening? I'm wondering if this is related to the issue I'm having...

Definitely seems like it could be related. I wish I knew more about macOS to know what the actual root cause of this could be and how we can fix it.

Currently running in Safe Mode. Hasn't happened yet. Seems like it may be some piece of software I usually have running. Now just to find the needle in the haystack 😩

if you figure out which app it is please report back :)
Do you use iStat Menus? I uninstalled that and this problem hasn't happened since. That was also the only difference between my Mac Studio where I had this problem and my MacBook Air where I did not have this problem. Still not sure how that would have any kind of connection to Notification Center.

you know what, I uninstalled and removed some things from login items and I’m pretty sure there were things related to iStat Menus in there…
