Notification center in Sierra is white in dark mode

The previous version of Mac Os X had the notification center colored black, but the new in macOS is white!

• Anyone that knows how to change it back to the old color?
• Anyone know why they changed it?

Might sound silly... BUT that is the only reason I am not installing Sierra on any of my Macs.

Until Apple fixes that in an update.

I don’t think that is possible, presently. I haven’t come across a hidden setting so far. Why they changed it? Look at iOS.

I have instant regret for updating because of this...
I doubt they will fix this, they consider this a "feature" not a bug, to match up with iOS, as stated.
I wasn't originally sold on the Notification Center when it first came out way back when (Mountain Lion or Lion? Can't recall) but I eventually got used to it and learned to appreciate it...But having it this white color is just not good; it makes it way too hard to see the widgets and notifications on a larger display or from a distance.

I agree, it looks… quite jarring when you're used to the nice dark theme (which is at least retained in the background on iOS 10, so… why?).

God. That joins the original Apple TV 4 interface to make two bold UI design decisions from Apple that I just haven't enjoyed. Only two ever, really, mind you. But, still, that's… twice as many as before. Thankfully, Apple TV ended up with a nice dark appearance too.

(And, goodness, that Social widget. It almost looks like it's worked its way through time from Mac OS 9.)

I doubt they are going to change this in a future release of Sierra. Those are mainly for bug fixes, and they might consider this the intended look.

Graphical and UI complaints tend not to get any attention even on Apple Bug Reporter. I complained that stacks in the dock look jagged back in Yosemite, and it was duplicated to an existing bug and ignored. This was fixed in El Capitan. Now it's jagged again in Sierra. Sierra just doesn't have the same "finish" and quality as El Capitan did.

Oh well, here's looking to next year's release.

Some things Apple does don't make sense until a year or two down the road... who knows. But I agree, it's quite jarring to see the white when you're in Dark Mode.

It looks quite awful and is making me hesitant to even access the notification panel anymore. I hope either Apple fixes this or a 3rd party application or tweak is released to do so.

Really? It isn't for me. I can barely tolerate the look of it on iOS. In MacOS it looks awful. Ever since they let Jony Ive loose on software we've had to put up with ever-increasing amounts of white and pale, washed-out anaemic colours.

Why did they change it from dark to light? NC is dark in El Cap whether you're in dark mode or not.

The widgets that show up as "Dark" on Sierra, simply mean the developer hasn't updated its resources to match the new colour. What annoys me is that you can have an "All Black" in El Capitan or an "All White" in Sierra.Yet the Dark setting in system preferences has no effect. How bloody stupid!

My understanding is that Apple wanted a consistent look across macOS and iOS, so the light color scheme is done the same. Notification banners in both are light/white.

There is not an option where it says : Dark mode for menu bar , dock AND notification center.

The setting is just : Dark mode for menu bar and Dock. It's not dark mode theme . It's not a bug.

I just did. I encourage everyone to spend a few minutes making a request.

As mentioned about, don't assume Apple doesn't look at feedback. A high portion of my feedback/requests have eventually been implemented in a way or another, maybe not because of my individual request but probably because enough people requested the same. This is like voting, a single vote doesn't make the election but the sum of all votes does.

So yeah, please spend a few minutes and help contribute to Apple reverting it to the dark theme.

No. Apparently, there is a preference key for this in the default set of Notification Center, but it does not respond to external changes and is overwritten automatically.

I just restored a backup that was from El Capitan to Sierra and this white notification centre is still here (and still doesn't make design sense imo)

Has apple changed it in a recent update or should I try to reinstall El Cap instead? It is glaring since I had a sweet dark theme thing going on with my background and a black theme on Chrome too
