Notification center problem

For some reason, only one reminder shows up in my notification swipe down. I have at least four, all set to a specific date. In settings, I have the reminders app show 10 items. Why is only one coming up?

Reminders will be shown in the notification drawer 24 hours before their set time. So if you have a reminder set for next week, it won't show up until the day before.

It makes sense to me. Why would I want to see a reminder in my notification drawer for days or even weeks before it becomes relevant?

I guess, but if you don't have your reminders app open all the time, it's nice to see more than a few in the swipe.
