I hate the way that notification centre tells me somebody has bid on my eBay or it's my turn on a game and even after visiting my email account or playing my turn of the game, this information is not cleared from notification centre.

Is there any way to make these messages auto-clear after I have visited the app they relate to?

If you click on the notification in Notification Center to get to the app, I believe it will clear the notification from Notification Center. If you see the notification in Notification Center but go to the app independently, I don't believe it will clear from Notification Center.

Yes it will. I just tried it with a game and with email. Both cleared from the NC even if I went directly to the app.

Message notifications clear but other notifications: games, eBay, PayPal, Viber etc do not.

I'll test if it makes any diffeerence if I go directly or via notification centre and report back here.

That said, if you have 5 or 6 different messages waiting, you a only going to visit one of them via a notification link and the other will probabily be visited directly.

It may be different with other games, but my current game of hanging with friends clears my notifications for me once I make my move. Same with Words with friends.

Those are the only two games I have notifications turned on for though.

Yea my words with friends does the same.

When somebody bids on my eBay item it says x bid £x on your eBay item x mins ago.

No matter how much I visit eBay it remains. Same with a few other reminders.

I guess it's down to the individual app then.

I have the same problem with a lot of 3rd party apps. WhatsApp seems to clear out of Notification Center though.

Unfortunately you have clear other apps manually from Notification Center by clicking little the "X" on the top right of the notification group header (for example, the group of eBay alerts). Clicking it changes the "X" to the word "Clear". Then you click "Clear" to get rid of all notifications under eBay. You can't clear just one notification, it's all or nothing.

Not sure who's to blame for this poor implementation. Apple for not providing devs with the tools to clear Notification Centre like the built-in apps can? Or the devs for not taking advantage of Notification clearing. If I'm right about WhatsApp working, then it looks like it's app dev's fault.

I'm not an iOS dev, so I can't say.
