I'm a big fan of 10.8. But, in my opinion, notification centre, as in the swipe to view area, is quite useless as it stands. I'd much prefer it use the 'widget' style look for the notifications that SIRI uses instead of the mundane, information devoid UI that we have on iOS and now on the Mac. Case in point, what currently constitutes a notification for ical vs. the widget that shows up when you 'ask' SIRI for upcoming appointments. Another example is between mail notifications, as well iMessages, on SIRI compared to the iOS notification centre - much better looking (subjective), but also a lot more pertinent information. I much prefer notification centre on the Mac to use the UI aspects of SIRI, compared to that of iOS notification centre.

What do you guys think?

I quite like it how it is, really suits how I use it. I have hot corners set up for the top right corner so it's pretty much instant.

That works for Siri because you are viewing only one kind of data at a time. It wouldn't work on iOS (no space), and it would look too busy, I think, on the Mac. But perhaps they could use popovers to reveal more info (like Spotlight.)

I do see what you both mean. I like the idea of the pop-outs like spotlight. Perhaps I'm just after more information from the notification centre, and the pop-out system you mention would certainly offer that.
