Just got the new MacBook Pro 14". I'm having notification issues with Monterey. All the preferences are correct and I am definitely not in Do No Disturb mode. I am just not getting alerts in the top right corner of the screen for Messages and Outlook. Ive gone into the Activity Monitory and force quit Notification Center, which improved it for a little. But then it's back to not showing again.

Im stumped. Anyone else having issues like this?

having the same problem with missing banners since I upgraded to Monterey (on last year M1).

none are working for me most of the time, be it messages, mail or telegram. Im just getting the small red badge over the icon. the banner doesn't show up when notification is received but when I open control center, it is there.

Ok at least I know I am not going crazy. So it's gotta be a Monterey thing. Hope they fix it asap.

For me Focus turned on Not disturb automatically for some reason.

And at the same time, it dimmed the date and time in the menubar. Bat **** crazy.

Personally, I don't want the computer to talk to me at all, and I would rather have the entire "notification" system disabled altogether. But iI do want mail to sound my personal AIFF sound when I get mail, which it doesn't seem to do. It is a recurring issue, happened with Bug Sur .0 as well.

yesterday I was using my MBP off the docking station and such and I got Messages notification. that ringed a bell for me, because I am using DisplayLink to connect two monitors to M1.
I checked notification settings and apparently, now I need to explicitly state that I allow them when Im mirroring or sharing the display (what DisplayLink is sort of doing).
once I checked this, Im getting notifications in the top right corner (tho Messages notifications comes as number not a name, but all the others are fine)

I wonder could this also be the case with an external monitor connected by Display Port in clamshell mode? I’m having notification issues since installing Monterey. Will check when I’m next with my Mac.

ETA: Yes this appears to have fixed it.

Hey Jim,

How exactly did you fix this? I'm having the same issue. Can you elaborate the steps?
