Hello,

Wondering if anyone has experienced this in iOS 10. I've noticed that I've missed calendar alerts, and some reminders when I'm on a call - specifically on my headphones, or in the car on bluetooth - and my screen looks like this - without the option to dial a number or anything else. The notifications I miss, that really bother me, are the ones that are supposed to leave an alert on the screen (Calendar Invite/Appointment, Omni Focus Alert, etc). The phone will brighten if it's dimmed during the call, but I won't necessarily know the reason and I end up going in to check on the previously mentioned apps to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Has anyone else experience this. I didn't have this problem - that i can remember - in iOS 9. Using an iPhone 7 currently.

Thanks!!

Same here. When on a call on BT - I hear the notification sound, but nothing is shown on the screen. Very annoying.

For me it's any notification at all. Email, message, you name it. I hear the sound, the screen lights up, but nothing on screen. I know I for one reported it at least twice during the beta period. Just shows it doesn't do any good I guess.

Seems like notifications don't show up on the lock screen while in a call.

In what way? Why?
In so many ways!
Reported directly to Apple for App Store app, Reminders app, Podcasts app and Calendar app for not receiving alerts and notifications in real time. Taken all the sugested troubleshooting steps and excluded all known and possible reasons not to have full functionality of notifications/alerts.. and still some of the mentioned apps do not respond and work as they should. Podcasts app is the worst in my case. It is like it is dead!
Also, ever since I have iPhone, I have never received notification/alert from Settings App about new available iOS version update. Tried everything.. no success!

Haha.. do not get me wrong, nothing negative towards you or Apple.. but just now you sounded like an Apple support adviser; pointing out something obvious and what speaks for it self in the beginning of an online, chat session. ;)

Simply pointing out what sems to apply there compared to what was mentioned earlier about notifications in general supposedly applying to "any iOS and any iPhone". ;)

Yeah!
So, how come you are not experiencing those kind of issues on your iPhone/iOS device? Can you advise about how is your device(s) set up in general so you do not experience any of issues mentioned before.
It is alweys easier to point out what is obvious than actualy provide solution to an problem. My mistake was in saying any iPhone, any iOS. Obviously yours is not affected and set up correctly. Please share your knowledge and experience so then mine iPhone(s) get set up correctly, finaly.. after so many years. Oh, yeah.. not just mine, but many others and not all!

You're right. It's any notification when in this mode. I wish there was a fix - I'm reluctant to contact Apple,as I assume they would walk me through a bunch of steps that would inevitably end in me "restoring" the phone and the issue persisting. Hate to sound negative but that's been my experience of late - including the lightning headphones issue that was resolved with the last iOS Update

This 'no notifications while in a call' is affecting 100% of the people I know with iPhones

Apple support has rapidly become just another round of "have you tried turning it off then back on again?" just like every other call centre on the planet. Yes, we've tried the obvious stuff, it's why we've called you. But no, that's usually not good enough and you have to do it again just to keep them happy.

That is how things are in iOS 10 so far at least. The particular issues that the other user brought up at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/notification-misses.2002090/#post-23620712 are of a different and more individualized nature.

True enough. I still can't believe though I was the only person who reported "no notifications when in a call" as a bug during beta testing. It does make me wonder if Apple are actually listening / care. Can't believe they think we don't need notifications on screen when in a call, especially when hands free.

As for the other issues, I've never had any notification from podcasts app either. Gave up on it in the end and went to one where I do get notifications of new episodes. Not what I wanted, but it works. Seems to be a lot of that lately :(

Is it still consider as individual issue or can it be that notifications/alerts on iOS are not functioning as they should?

I'm honestly surprised that I haven't seen more complaints about this issue... I'm on my phone throughout the day and night and this issue is more than annoying....

Here's the exact bug report I submitted to Apple on 8/30/2016:
Area:
Lock Screen

Summary:
While on a voice call with the screen locked, new notification previews (text messages, hangouts notifications, facebook, email, etc) do not appear as intended.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Place a voice call.
2. Lock phone
3. Receive some sort of notification

Expected Results:
At step 3, the expected result would be to see the notification bubble and text on your lock screen.

Actual Results:
At step 3, the backlight comes on (and you can see the lock screen, and call timer, etc), but no notification is actually displayed. You will be able to see that you actually did receive the notification by swiping down on the lock screen to see your recent notifications -- the ones you just received will be displayed.

Version:
iOS 10 Beta 14A5346a

Notes:
I do use an Apple Watch, I was able to reproduce the issue with the watch ON and OFF.

Configuration:
64gb iPhone 6s AND 64gb iPhone 6

They responded to me on 9/8/16 stating that this was a duplicate issue and my ticket was closed.... I can see the status of the original ticket as OPEN...... so, they know this is an issue, but they have yet to do anything about it....
