Notification on watch even if I’m using phone

I don’t know setting wrong or what but if I’m using my iPhone X to text someone, I’m getting notifications on my watch every time they reply. I can’t figure out which setting is causing this — can anyone help?

Same issue here. I seemed to resolve it by rebooting my watch. When I rebooted it, I got a bunch of notifications like it was behind. After that was all done, it’s been in sync since.

I also moved to the X, so exact same issue.
