When I receive any notifications in Sierra, they display on the screen as banners, then show up in the Notification Center and automatically disappear after two minutes without any interaction. Example: Notification banner is displayed on desktop without any interaction by me, it eventually disappear as you would expect. If I then open the Notification Center, the alert is displayed and will dissapear after two minutes right before my eyes without any interaction by me. So basically, if I don't happen to catch an alert in then Notification Center within two minutes of it being received, I will miss it permanently. This is happening for ALL of my alerts. This certainly can't be by design as it would make absolutely no sense to even have a notification Center.

Any ideas?

In the Notifications window, there are two tabs at the top: Today and Notifications. Are you selecting Notifications tab to find the past notifications?

See missed notifications
In Notification Center, click Notifications, then do any of the following:

Get details: Click a notification to see the item in the associated app. For example, click a Mail notification to see the email in Mail. When you open an item, it’s removed from Notifications view.

Remove notifications: For a day, click the Clear button . For an individual notification, move the pointer over it, then click the button.

In Apple Help, search "Use Notification Center" for more info.

After doing more troubleshooting, I've identified that this issue is only occurring with one particular app (iVPN). Notifications for other apps appear to stick. I've emailed the developer and hopefully there is a fix. I'm just not sure how or why the app would cause it's alerts to disappear on their own...
