Okay, I must be doing something really stupid. Got my new iPhone 7+ today.

Notifications are not "waking" my screen when they come in. If I raise to wake, I can see them on the lock screen. So I am getting the notifications, but they are not waking the screen.

I am running IOS 10.02, and I do have an apple watch. However, I am not raising my arm to see the notifications on the apple watch, when I get the taptic touch on my arm.

When I setup my phone, I did restore from a backup yesterday on my iPhone 6S+. I have tried deleting my apps that I have setup for notifications (ie ESPN, CNN, FOX, Inbox). And I reinstalled them, but does not make a difference.

Help!

That's normal.

Your iPhone won't wake for a notification if your Apple watch is connected to it.

Per Apples support page: "If your iPhone is locked or asleep, you'll get notifications on your Apple Watch, unless your Apple Watch is locked with your passcode."

FWIW I had the same problem.

My Series 0 was also having this issue, regardless of the status of my watch, notifications were not appearing on my phone. The phone was not showing notifications, even when my watch was on it's charger. Apparently the watch wasn't reporting back to the phone, the current status, so the phone never displayed notifications.

I had to disable Bluetooth on my phone, in order to get text, email, or other alerts to flow until I had time to troubleshoot it more.

Apple is having me me un-pair and reset my watch, crossing my fingers that this works. Missed a lot of notifications over the past couple days.
