Notifications on iPhone 11 Pro Max

Hi All,
I recently upgraded from 6s+ and can no longer see incoming texts on my phone, locked or unlocked. I literally have to unlock phone to read. Not even a preview. I’ve checked notification settings and see nothing where I can changedisplay/previews.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Settings—>Notifications—>Messages—>Show Previews

To clarify, I can no longer see a preview of the text content. I can only see text message under the contact’s name. With my old phone (6s+) I used to be able to see content or a preview. Not sure if it’s a setting issue or no longer an option. Thanks

that’s the thing, I currently have it set up as always show preview but it’s not.

I had the same problem, with email or imessage.

The last person to reply forgot to mention that after you go to those settings you have to set it to this:

But it is better for your privacy, don’t change that
