Just wondering WHY notifications aren't managed like any other incoming data... (messages, emails, calls, etc), and stored / organized within their own app? We're at iOS 17 and Apple still hasn't gotten notifications right. If you accidentally (or intentionally) click on one, they disappear forever... whether you actually saw what that notification said or not. We should be able to review, manage, sort, group, delete them within their own app, like any other incoming messages. Sure they could still retain their unique blend of ephemeral screen pop infinite scrolling bloated alert mess, but beyond that fail, we could simply review them in app. Thoughts?

Not to mention sometimes you get a notification - tap it - are taken to the notifying app and all you get is the home screen. Like I'm magically supposed to figure out where to go. But since the notification would've now disappeared it's harder to reference why I was there in the first place.

What can I say, kids can be distracting, or my memory is going... either way I like this idea!

I keep 99.9% of my notifications disabled; only have them enabled for calls, texts and severe weather, and I think that's a great idea!

Exactly! So many apps (especially my banking apps) will show an iOS alert, but when the app is opened the alert is different or not visible at all.

A whole app would be overkill if you ask me but a section in the settings app for "missed" notifications would be cool
It would work like missed call history, most rarely view it but have access to it when they need it. Notifications could simply track into their own app/history and only be there when we needed them too. Seems like it would be an easy thing for apple to add.

No offense, but I think that's a terrible idea. I'm not saying notifications are flawless, but a standalone app? Please, God, no.
