Did they mention any kind of 'Taskbar Notifier' coming in the new OS? Something that will show whether you have a new e-mail, voicemail or missed call just by hitting the Home Button...without having to Slide, Unlock and go to the MAIN APPS Home Screen?
If not, is this a possible App that can be created with Multitasking or is this something that falls under "Things running in the Background' and it's still not gonna be allowed?
Thanks!

This may be an easier way to ask what I meant...will it be possible to VIEW whether you have an e-mail, voicemail, missed call from the LOCK SCREEN?

I filed a bug report about this a while ago as something I think they should add. The response from Apple was "currently being investigated by engineering."

So who knows, maybe it'll get added in a later build of 4.0. They had changes in both 2.0 and 3.0 betas.

Also remember, they show off new features when the new phone comes out too. Perhaps they felt they needed to keep something hidden for now so that event will have more than 1 exciting announcement. Hard to say, I'll be puzzled as well if this isn't addressed by the time 4.0 comes out.
