That's what my local Apple Store told me. It's probably not the most reliable source, but he seemed pretty confident telling me this. I'm hoping he's telling the truth.

No offense to your local Apple Store, but a clerk there or even a manager would have absolutely no idea when iOS 4.2 will be released publicly.

Perhaps an overzealous Specialist who reads forums and is aware of the common wisdom that a GM is "usually" a week or two before general release, but there is no more validity to his remark beyond that.

:)

THIS.

Apple Store employees know nothing beyond the scope of retail - sometimes they may know a little about retail operations but they would never know about a new product before the info becomes public.

Unless the store employee has other friends within Apple of course.

doubt it, since GM only came out on wednesday, that's not enough time for devs to test their apps, recompile and submit to the app store so they can have updates out for the new iOS release. you're looking at a week from GM.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

iOS 4.2 to enter with a bang?

Shameless joke

i would recommend to wait a couple of days to see if there are bugs. i think I'll wait a few weeks for all apps to update and the i switch to OS4.2. I haven't even updated my iPhone to OS4 yet.
