Anyone know how to get rid of all the random background activity stuff? I don't have location services on at all so I don't know why it's 11%. I turn it on occasionally, but it's not running.

locationd is probably for location services (disabling background app refresh might help)
backboardd is what your springboard hooks onto (i think)
mediaserverd is related to the video player
com.apple.mms is for sending multimedia messages

Yep, background refresh is off which is why I thought it was strange seeing that. Does a reboot help all of those from staying active in the background?

Do you have an app that you use fairly frequently that uses location services?

Motion Calibrations stays on all the time for a lot of users on iPhone 6 and plus.

May be its on but you havent enables status bar icon under settings-privacy-location-system services.

It's very likely that it is the culprit.

For me motion calibration stays on 24 7.

I'm wondering in the grand scheme of things how much 11% equivocates to how much battery drain.

My big hitters are Chrome , Paper and Home and Lock Screen.

What about weather widgets? They check for the weather every 15 min or whatever you have them set to. Would that use location services?

Nope, no weather widgets. All I have as far as widgets is the Motivational Quotes widget.

Right, but it might help getting rid of it because it's just there in the background all the time. With the other apps, I know what's causing most of the drain. But background activity can be from anything.
