I'm curious as well. I don't have a gift card, but I do have Prime and live in California so I wouldn't be subjected to sales tax.
I hope they get them soon or else I might have to just suck it up and get one locally or through Apple's online store.

I checked some threads on the 2011 iMac refresh. Amazon had them for preorder the same day Apple released them, didn't get them "in stock" for a couple days, claimed 8-9 days shipping time, but mostly they arrived in about 6 days. Obviously there's no way to know if this will be replicated with the new minis.

I just ordered one from Amazon. They said they would email me when they have a ETA. I was hoping it would come in the confirmation. No such luck.
I've never seen anything but basic Macs on Amazon.
MacMall offers them on some models and is tax free for most states.

So I am in the military and stationed in Japan and Amazon and Apple will not ship to me here.
I ahve to wait for the base electronics store to get them which usually takes a month.
Unless I want to pay another $40-50 and pay an outside company to send it to me.

Come on, I'm sure it's difficult for anyone in Japan to get delivery from US Amazon or the US Apple store as there are Japanese equivalents over there. It's not a specific policy against US troops so you shouldn't play the "they don't support the troops" card.
There was a thread on reddit about a soldier who told a waitress that he wasn't going to tip because he was serving the country and she should support the troops. I'm grateful to all soldiers/sailors/airmen for their service, but that kind of entitlement bothers me. I mean, it's a mac mini, we're not talking about a shipment of body armor. If you want it right away, $40 seems like a good deal to ship it half way across the world; if you want to save money, wait a bit.

Well said glitch44. The medal of honor winners are not playing that card. Their humbleness both shows us that they are like everybody else in and out of the military, which means we could all aspire to having that character in us, plus it makes us like them even more!
It is hard for a company to work out a problem if their product goes overseas. Servicemembers have their own Civil Relief Act which makes taking civil court action against them difficult while they are overseas ordering this stuff while serving. There are all kinds of people in all walks of life. No occupation is immune to that.

You try coming over here then and see how frustrating it is to get simple things shipped here. Things you take for granted can sometimes be a real hassle to get shipped.
I was not and am in no way pulling the "support the troops card" ... IMHO the whole support the troops thing thing irritates me. Its a frigging job we signed up for.
It gets terribly frustrating when a lot, and I mean a lot, of companies will not ship to us over here and we have to rely on outside companies and pay a premium for it to have something shipped. all those shipping charges add up.

Just Saying.....but I do appreciate everything you guys are doing, just keep things in perspective, as it is only a mac mini, either pay the premium to get it faster or save money and wait.
