Now Playing Icon at Top of Display is Hard to Select

When I am playing a Podcast (or Music) on my Apple Watch a icon shows up at the top of the screen when my watch face is displayed. If am very careful, I can tap it so that the Podcast (or Music) app will come up. This requires way too much precision and most of the time the calendar app comes up when I use the Modular watch face.

Is there a gesture that I don't know about that will bring up the app?

I know that if I use a different watch face, such as Snoopy, or turn off the date, then this is not a problem. Also, I know that swipe from the bottom for the Smart Stack.
