I'm such a noob still. I have five iOS devices and I used to update all the apps and iOS within iTunes on the PC and then sync.

Now that apps are gone from iTunes, do i have this right -- I have to do updates separately on each device? (My internet service is metered, so it's five times the downloads.)

Yes, or you can use this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208079

But, so you know. When you do App Store updates on your iOS device, you are downloading the delta update. When you do it through iTunes, its the entire app size. So its very well possible that 5x delta is smaller than the original file size.

For Example: Real Racing 3 delta updates are about 50-60MB. The entire app is 900MB. So 60 x 5 =300MB; 600MB less than the one full app download.

iMazing has App Store support and allows for syncing apps to devices from PC. Also has many other features, such as selective restore (eg. erase phone and restore only text messages). $40, but does popup on sale from time-to-time (got my copy for $10-$15).

Thanks for explaining this, I'll chill about the bandwidth issue that I was imagining. And will keep an eye on iMazing for a sale.
