Well remember when people found it that the ipad would most likely have an iphone os rather than a full OSX.

Most people went abit nuts and hated that idea that the tablet wouldnt run OSX.

So I want to know what your feelings are now (you lucky US people).

OSX or iphone os?

Seeing what the ipad can do i would deffinatly say iphone os and think back to all those who complained about it not being OSX and laugh.

The ipad wouldnt be succesful with OSX running on it I dont think.. and it would have got boring very fast.

Mac OS X + full multi-touch support is the future. Apple has built the best operating system ever (or at least one of the best) and it ignores it in favor of a fraction of it. Mac OS X has great features which allow true side-by-side multi-tasking, spaces, time machine, file system management, quick application launching and more.

You can claim that iPhone OS is cool but it will always be a second-best to Mac OS X. Multi-touch in iPhone OS is like a lion in a cage - just a small taste of what you could do if you had full multi-touch support in Mac OS X.

For what the iPad is intended to do, iPhone OS is probably a better choice.

OS X would have similar downsides as Windows 7 with touch interface will probably have on the HP device. A lot more battery drain and some possible clunkiness in return for some added Inspector Gadget capabilities.

If they ever release an iPad pro, then it should run OSX. But that also would require an even larger screen.

Mac OS X and iPhone OS are made for products from different categories. They're both essential and a comparison is not necessary.

I don't see that happening. That totally kills the purpose of the iPad. As the OP stated, if the iPad ran OS X, it would have failed for sure.

This isnt a comparison im not asking to compare them. Im just interested to see who thinks now that the ipad with the iphone OS is better than what most wanted (having full OSX)

For doing things faster and easier, and in mobile devices (better optimized for low power), iPhone OS is better. For more powerful, complex things (graphics apps, coding, scientific), OS X is better. I'm already blown away by some of the early iPad apps though, it's going to be amazing to see what they do in a few years with it. iPhone OS is much more capable than people give it credit for and it's just getting started. Once iPhone OS 4.x is out for the iPad, even moreso.
