.... does anyone think this means the new Mac Pros are getting closer?

some people were expecting the new MP's around the release (actual shipping) of the new displays but it's really up to Intel at this point.

Yup, that's the point I was thinking of.

Unfortunately only AMD came out with their new server grade cpu series today. I wonder how long Intel's going to take it's time. Q1 2012 financial starts on the 26th of Sept. (or so)

Release dates are based on Calendar Years (CY), not Financial Years (FY). So Q4 2011 (been shifted from Q3 2011 to Q4 2011 to Q1 2012, and finally back to Q4 2011 in the most recent articles).

But in terms of generating sales for Q1 2012 FY, it should if there aren't any further delays.

right :) I was only trying to say Intel needs to hurry up ;)

Is there any possible relationship between that rumor around june (saying that Apple will use cpu's never seen before) and Bulldozer?
Or is this hogwash? ;) :p

No, I mean there was this rumor in June and I was only wondering if that was about Bulldozer or not... ( AMD's new server grade cpu which apparently has been released today)

No just garbage rumours. Happens every time with the Mac Pro. Very few technology journalists, let alone analysts or blogs*, have any interest or understanding of the technology platform Apple use for the Mac Pro and either make stuff up, make big assumptions with no research or believe are recirculate unsubstantiated and highly unlikely wish listing. There have only been a few rumours related to the Mac Pro since its inception that seem to have actually come from sources connected to the process rather than speculation being right.

*As you can be regarded as a legitimate source if you get one thing sort of right you may as well speculate and hope something sort of close comes out.

Hmmmmm you think? Or do you think Apple are moving away from the tower?

My guess is the Pro is in its last throws.....

new Xeons come at the end of the year. there will be no update until the new Xeons are released. start your doomsaying after that happens.

yea funny how ppl are predicting MP's/iphone 5/etc whenever there is a general maintenance ;) Im sure Apple would announce the MP first. :p
