LOOK OUT CRACKBERRIES A NEW SOFT ADDICTION IS COMING: iPHONE Life Coach Judith Wright can discuss how this gadget can negatively impact

Judith Wright Life coach and author of “The Soft Addiction Solution” says they are seemingly harmless habits that prevent you from accomplishing your goals.

“We already have a crackberry addiction and with more features to offer consumers the iPhone will surely take over” says Wright.

Judith Wright can discuss how the iPhone could be destructive to your relationships and offer tips on how to prevent this new device from consuming your life.

Judith’s expertise has been featured in countless media outlets including:
Good Morning America, FOX News, MSNBC, ABC’s 20/20 and the Today Show.
Judith is the director of the Wright Institute in Chicago, where she counsels people and also holds seminars.

I have a life coach.

Great for goals. Strategies to accomplish those goals. Prioritizing those goals. Keeping me focused on those goals. Helping me to maintain my structure and organization. Someone outside my friends and family to have an impartial hear and bounce things off of.

hahaha what a retard

You wanna go careful. That's pretty offensive and only borderline amusing - not worth the trouble or offence caused IMO.

RE The OP: of course there are going to be people taking a negative stance on that, some people want to pick holes on everything.

This is interesting. On the one hand, I'd really be interested in what a life coach could do for me, but on the other, not only do I already have a pseudo-psychoanalyzing "life coach" (or ten) in the form of best friends and other psych majors. I also really question the value of therapy and life advice given from someone without an accredited array of degrees to practice what is pseudo-psychotherapy. How can a layman be able to take you through that process of discovery, expression, coping, and listening just as well as a doctorate? I don't know. I suppose you get what you pay for, as I doubt "life coaches" cost more than $14.95 for a softcover, as opposed to $200/hour for the real thing.

The art of counseling is a gift.....not a learned trade.

For me it's not therapy. It's career and other areas of life that I want to focus on. Health, nutrition, time for me, time for family, where my life is going were all concerns for me. My coach just give me the tools, asks the questions, follows up, and give me added accountability in keeping the course and accomplishing those things. Realistic goals with deadlines. A little at a time. Bring more things into the fold of my routine. Examine my values and what is most important to me. Yes it's a kind of therapy, but not for problems or lingering emotional issues. To get me off my arse. For those of us motivated but sometimes daunted by the overwhelming nature of trying to take on too much at once, it's a game plan - with a coach. Also while they aren't doctorates, they do a lot of classes, etc to gain the expertise. And for $200 a month in the beginning for 3 1hr weekly meetings plus emails and phone calls to now $200 a quarter to meet 3 times (once per month) with emails and phone call follow ups, it doesn't break the bank.

Yeah, so is being a masterful gourmet chef. But that doesn't mean you can't undercook your duck l'orange and give 150 people salmonella, or cut your finger off when slicing your okra.

....and you can't make everyone a gourmet chef regardless of how many culinary schools they attend. ;)

Indeed. I wasn't saying that anyone can attend 8-9 years of college and several years of mental health grunt work and make a great counselor. My point is that it requires a balance of talent, experience, and education to be in a position such as advising others how to live healthily.

life coaches are untrained and unregulated therapists. nothing more nothing less. it's a fancy label that was designed to take the stigma out of going to see a therapist.

My relationship will be negatively impacted if I DON'T GET AN IPHONE!

I already told my wife I will be super pissed if I am unable to get one which is why I am making efforts to get where I need to be early to secure one. :)

My guess is that she figures if some people are willing to pay $600 for a cell phone (v 1.0), they'll be willing to pay big bucks for things like a life coach. She might be right.
