Before - any notification displayed right up disappeared after some time and you could not close it earlier. Now Apple seems to come to an opposite extreme - each notification will stay there forever unless you manually close it. Really no way to let them disappear on their own unless you don't want to close them earlier ?

The rules are the same as before. Banners show for a short period of time and alerts must be closed manually.

Not really. Before a notification came (like export finished, disc was disconnected etc.) and you had to wait for few seconds before they disappeared. Now a closing cross was added, but unless you close it manually, it will stay forever
