NTFS format removable hard drive

just bought a cavalry NTFS removable hard drive. It says it is compatiable witha mac. I thought macs run on FAT32. Can anyone let me know if it will run on a mac and will i be able to add programs from my windows pc ot my mac pc using the hard drive, i do not yet own a mac to test the hard drive on myself. Thanks

Without any third-party software, Mac OS X can mount NTFS volumes but they will be read-only. If you're not going to be dealing with any files greater than 4GB, I suggest you reformat the drive as FAT32 and be done with it.

If you're looking for info about getting OS X to write to NTFS partitions, do a google search on Macfuse.

Tiny hijack here..

I got a 300gb external harddrive which is NTFS. The mbp finds it, but i can't read any of the files. (Nor enter it - it just shows up in the finders mount area)

Any idea how I can read it?

Reformat as FAT32 either using the drive's web admin utility?
