I am thinking of buying am iPhone in the U.S. when I go there later this month and I then plan on unlocking it with iJailbreak and using it here in the U.K. I know the U.K. and U.S. iPhone have different ways of formatting numbers when dialing (does this happen in contacts or anything else like that?). If I bought the iPhone in the U.S. and used it here in the U.K., could I change the number formatting to that of the U.K.? If not, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, but if I have to stick with U.S. formatting, will I still be able to make calls properly (without the U.S. formatting messing up when I call someone)? Will the U.S. version being used in the U.K. make any other differences?

Thanks!

just buy it in the UK and use it. it may be slightly more expensive, but it's worth it. there's all the problems when you mess up your iphone (ie. unlock/jailbreak), if you stick with O2 you can just do a restore and it will still work...

i've been unlocking 3 iphones in south africa and im already freaking out from the unlocks (they are time and energy consuming)...

I would happily buy an O2 iPhone but I'm not quite in the U.K... I live in the Isle of Man which is in-between the U.K. and Ireland. Apple don't offer the iPhone here. If I were to sign up to an O2 contract I would have to pay roaming charges. The stupid thing is that the network here (Manx Telecom) is actually owned by O2. We get all the XDAs etc... but no iPhone (that was predictable anyway). If I were to buy an iPhone from the U.S. and unlock it with iJailbreak, what will happen with the number formatting? Also, iJailbreak looks quite simple to use, there shouldn't be any problems should there?
