Hi Everyone,

I've got 3x 5,1 MacPro's which are used for all types of graphics apps. (All dual 3.46ghz 12 core machines with 32GB ram, sata SSD startup drives and 2tb spinners for storage)

One of the machines is setup specifically for Cinema 4D renders using Redshift. This machine using the PIXLAS mod, is running 2x Asus Nvidia 1080Ti 11GB Turbos. https://www.scan.co.uk/products/asu...phics-card-3584-core-1480mhz-gpu-1582mhz-boos

This setup runs flawlessly on osx 10.3 using Nvidia driver 378.10.10.10.15.114

However, I've tried on multiple occasions to upgrade OSX to newer versions, 10.3.3, 10.3.4 and 10.3.5 but have had driver issues with each.

Its the same issue each time, the correct updated NVIDIA driver for the OS all appears to be loaded successfully with both cards recognised but show heavy graphics issues (dock background appears white, dragging windows causing disappearing panes and ghosting etc) and massive lag and unresponsiveness generally.

Ive always got my 10.3 system which works fine to fall back on, however it would be nice for security reasons to know I can at some point use an updated OS without problems.

My current test SSD has a fresh install of 10.3.5 with NVIDIA driver 387.10.10.35.106 and exhibits the problems described above (PRAM reset multiple times but didn't help).

Is there anything anyone can think of that I can try that may fix this issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ian

It's a know issue that the latest web driver has bug when running multi cards.

If you want to upgrade to the latest macOS 10.13.5 but keep the known good driver, you can run the following command in terminal.

Code:
bash <(curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Benjamin-Dobell/nvidia-update/master/nvidia-update.sh) 378.10.10.10.15.114

And if you want to try the newer V378 driver. Then the command is

Code:
bash <(curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Benjamin-Dobell/nvidia-update/master/nvidia-update.sh) 378.10.10.10.25.106

In general, avoid the V387 driver usually can fix the issues.

Thanks for your help, I've tried installing the "378.10.10.10.25.106" via the script above which installs fine however after a restart, the cards aren't recognised.

Am I right in thinking that the latest OS that supports "378" drivers is 10.3.2, or is there a way to get the 378 drivers working with 10.3.5+?

Thanks

Ian
