So you think Nvidia should support a product that Apple already has plans to EOL in the next os release?

This is how big business works. Nvidia doesn't need Apple and is doing just fine without them. Why should they release drivers or try to support the only aging hardware Apple has left when there's no future in it?

Apple doesn't officially support eGPU and doesn't have a PCI slot in their new hardware. There's not one single product Apple makes that Nvidia can market their products around.

It sounds like way more work than necessary to support a beta on ancient hardware for very little in return.

I think the thread starter just wants the drivers leaked. It would be unofficial so Nvidia would not have to bother supporting it. It's a dream but a nice one...

But then there would be a string of AMD fanboys complaining that the drivers are crap and are only running Pascal in "Kepler compatibility mode" and that performance in OpenGL games is no better than a GTX 680 (ignoring the fact that most of them are completely CPU limited), just like they did for Maxwell.

There is next to no utility in not getting feedback from a beta to to improve the product. The beta has substantive defects .... or it wouldn't be beta. Once pushed into the rogue sharing network it will expand unbounded ( again completely opposite of what a beta cycle is suppose to be doing. Flush need to flush and move onto the increments as they roll out. ) Even if there is a subset group who are using a subset of the functionality that might be working well .... expanding that group do little to improve the defect-find-fix iteration cycle.

Even "officially unsupported" stuff tend to trickle back into the support coverage. Whether it is someone who feels empowered to submit a formal trouble ticket anyway or increased redundant reports in the unofficial channels being loosely monitored.
