Hi Guys,
Has anyone been having any issues with their 680 causing their PCI bay and power supply fans to be about twice their normal speed on startup from shutdown?

Ive seen that if I go into diablo or starcraft for a minute and quit out they return to normal and stay that way until another cold boot.

If I have the Gt120 in one of the other slots and not use the Gt120 (my monitor plugged into the 680) everything stays normal.
If I run just the 680 the PCI bay and Power supply fans go crazy until I go into a game and back out.

Ive also tried a fresh install of 10.8.4 and same thing.

Any ideas on what could cause this? EVGA wants to replace the card but Im not convinced that will fix it.

Hi,

No. My fans are normal.

I also have CPUs in there that use more watts (i.e. get hotter) than the stock Apple ones. And I have no issues with fans at start up.

Furthermore, and why I am posting: I play Starcraft and I don't see any changes in fans at boot time, when I launch Starcraft or when I quit. and I have the 680 driving two 30 inch monitors. Starcraft in Max detail under Mac OS X. This is under Mountain Lion and Mavericks.

Since you have changed the GT120 sounds you have already done this, but it is worth repeating: Have you cleaned all the fans? Especially the front and the back ones?

just got through with EVGA support.
They said they reached out to nvidia and that nvidia could not recreate the issue. So there was nothing they could do.
