Nvidia web driver for 10.11.3

Successfully updated.

It did however still have that annoying issue like the 10.11.2 update. After installing the update and booting for the first time, it has a mostly black screen with a progress bar in the center. It almost gets to the end but stops. Any key press results in the Mac making the 'Funk' sound. No visible cursor. Only option is to force shut down and power up, then it works fine. Install Nvidia driver and restart, done. Wonder why it does that?

Is the actual OS running ok? Obviously the comments on a single forum may not be representative of the general experience, but over on the thread for the release of the update there are a lot of people complaining of hosed installations.
 
No problems here.

Always do a backup before installing a major update.

* Get an 8 GB USB flash drive to serve as an OS X installer/recovery drive. (using DiskMaker X)

* Get an 128GB (bigger or smaller depending on your boot drive) flash drive and do a Carbon Copy Cloner backup prior to updating.

That way, if the update hoses your system, it's easy to restore from the known, working install.

Happened to me once, I think it was 10.11 -> 10.11.1 update. It has no negative impact tho, just hard reboot and done.
 
I wonder why Nvidia locks each driver to a specific OS X build?
Maybe that was Apple's condition for allowing them to be signed.

You obviously missed the outrage when Apple changed some binary interface in a public beta OS update and one of the NVIDIA beta drivers started panicking. NVIDIA has clearly chosen to avoid these binary incompatibility problems by locking the official driver builds to the specific OS version that Apple released, because that allows them to verify that they actually work correctly with that OS (and that OS alone).

It does mean that NVIDIA has to rebuild and release new drivers any time Apple revs the OS version number, but that does seem to be a more robust solution than risking panics or crashes due to binary incompatible changes from Apple.

Support. They have a very small team looking after the Mac drivers and when things go wrong it is less work for them to track the problem down by locking the driver to a build.
 
Is anyone else getting graphical glitches in Photoshop when using any of the brush tools? Not sure if it's 10.11.3 or the 346.03.05f01 Nvidia driver.

Seems to happen only in Advanced OpenGL mode, not Basic or Normal.

Another possible issue with the Web Driver:

My MacPro 3,1 (early 2008) will not boot when both SoftRAID 5.1 and the latest nVidia Web Driver (346.03.05f01) are both installed. The boot progress bar will get to the midway point and then hang indefinitely.

If I uninstall SoftRAID 5.1, but keep the Web Driver active, the computer will boot.
If I hit CMD-OPTION-P-R to zap PRAM (which reactivates the OS X default graphics driver), the computer will boot.

This problem did not exist *two* versions ago of the Web Driver.
 
Lastest Security update has been a pain in the backside. Caused more than my 750Ti to stop loading. Couldnt even get my crabby 520 to laod up. The 520 is starting to look a little flakey at best so just order a £20 610(I know a rebadged 520) for those dire emergencies when you click before thinking.

Have had issues with all HD's and Back up drives since. Although I probably need to go gremlin hunting for some of them though.
