NVMe boot support how-to?

Hi All,

Recently purchased an NVMe SSD to install in 4,1.>5,1 Mac Pro.

Following the instructions on NVMe boot support how-to guide for the Mac Pro 3,1 / 4,1 / 5,1

And I cant download Nvme.ffs.zip as it states This version of NVMe.ffs is outdated.

Where can I acquire the right version so I can proceed with getting the MP NVMe bootable?

Help much appreciated :)

This is obsolete. You need the 140 firmware, which has the NVME booting by default

I'd like to remain on High Sierra so presumably the firmware upgrades the hardware without taking it to Mojave?

That is correct. Just upgrade the firmware and stop there.

Thanks. If you could just clarify, do I just start off the Mojave update from the App Store and quit after the Firmware upgrade, before Mojave fully installs? Is there a point at which I can stop?
 
Machine will restart after firmware update. Just do not proceed with Mojave install. If installer automatically opens, just quit it. (Unchecking the open applications on restart resolves this for most.)

....actutally will partition HD and install Mojave to it...

Hi All,

I have another question: How do I bypass not having a metal GPU? I dont want to install Mojave, just do the firmware update to boot from an NVMe SSD... ?
