Hi
I've my loved iMac Pro that is missing a bit of internal ssd space...
So, I've bought a 2tb nvme ssd and I've ordered a usb 3.2 20gbps enclosure.
But I've a doubt... I already have a cheap supposed 10gbps enclosure but magic disk measure a speed of roughly 30-40mb/s write and read... Where as it should be close to 1000mb/s.
The new 20gbps enclosure I've ordered is this one.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/r.html?...U7WT3KQF4A&ref_=pe_27063361_485629781_TE_item

Anyone knows if my imac pro will be able to use it at its full potential (in theory, 2000mb/s)... Or it won't change anything?
Thanks a lot

Apple haven’t made a Mac with 20gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 2x2 ports. Only 10gbps. You have 4 TB 3 ports so you need a TB enclosure.

Thanks. Is a tb4 enclosure backward compatible with tb3? I think I've read that no...

On a Mac, yes, they're compatible as long as the operating system is fairly up to date. (I think it requires Big Sur or later)

Have you confirmed the SSD works at full speed in a PC? Did you buy it from a reliable source? I ask because there are counterfeit SSD.

Hi. I've now solved my challenge.
In fact, my 10gbps enclosure was delivered with a usb s cable. But since the beginning, I'm not using it. But the cable i was using was not thunderbolt... So when I plugged back my enclosure with it's original cable, I got close to one GB of data transfer in both way ☺️
