The NYT just published an item saying that smartphones and some other electronics will be exempted from the recent high tariffs. The item references "updated guidance" from CBP here. But of course that doesn't spell anything out in plain English. The NYT item here says "The list of products that will be exempted includes smartphones, “automatic data processing machines,” flat-panel displays, transistors and semiconductors." CNBC is reporting the same, here.

I assume MR will be doing an actual story about this but in the meantime I wanted to pass this along.
