O2 3G - can't get any wireless data (3G, EDGEor GPRS)

of the three iPhones in my flat, my fiances (O2) and my (vodafone) old/2.5g iPhone have Edge signal and work fine. My 3G iPhone cannot connect to safari (except by Wifi).

i've tried 3g on or off but i only get 1 bar 3G anyway
data roaming doesn't affect it
the preset in 'cellular data' is APN: mobile.02.co.uk, user: vertigo, password: password. These were already preset in iPhone.

the help section says that only APN is needed so i deleted the user and password and this had no effect either.

any ideas?

I'm having the same issue. It worked on Friday but nothing since. Hope it's o2 and that it's being sorted.

Go into your settings > General > Reset.

then reset network settings
worked for me

I tihkn mine broke because I had "restored" via itunes with a previous back up and it messed up the network.

Yeh I had the same problem I called O2 and they told me to do the same as arcsbite and it works.

I also restored my 2G backup on to my 3G.

I also had a email problem, which was solved by re-entering the passwords

So my iphone 3g is great, my girl on the other is still having an issue. She will have full reception be able to make calls and recieve sms messages. She is unable to use safari,e-mail,set-up voicemail unless on wifi...

The messed up part is if you look at the top of the screen there are no 3g or edge icons showing. I was on phone with apple also at&t for over 3 hrs. It was concluded that it was a sim issue. The bad part is that at&t has now tried 7 different sim's. If i put my sim in the phone all works great,

So you would think like apple and at&t said it is a sim issue, but why after 7 sim's two different at&t stores still nothing.

I am starting to get stressed, i have be to apple store and at&t everyday since we got the FRI.

SIDE NOTE: I can't imagine its the phone being that my sim and a friends 1st gen sim work great in her phone and hers does the same crap in our phones...Any thoughts would be great. I am strating to feel really bad she is starting to hate this great product..

I had the below problem earlier on today, and fixed it by turning Airplane Mode On then Off. It re-found a 3G signal and has been fine since. You might want to try it yourself.

Sorry thank you i forgot to mention that, apple tech made me do that along with the full reset then a full restore...Anyone else have any ideas..

You might want to try contacting O2/AT&T (or whoever is your service provider) and check there's nothing wrong with your account. Sometimes glitches happen at an account level and you aren't allowed access to the 3G network.
