Updated mine and my father's iPhones to 3.1 yesterday and I thought I'd post a couple of bits I've noticed:

The carrier has changed from O2 4.4 to O2 5.0 (in the process re-setting the Pay & Go cellular data settings from payandgo.o2.co.uk to idata.o2.co.uk), while on my father's phone, the tethering option seems to have vanished.

Mine was a launch day 3GS that came with 3.0 and has never had the option for tethering (and still doesn't with 3.1), whilst his 3GS is around two weeks old and came with 3.0.1. Under 3.0.1 it had (in Settings>General>Network) an option for tethering, but this has disappeared with the 3.1 update, so it looks like mine now.. Has anyone else had the same? It's not a problem as he doesn't use tethering, but I thought it was worth mentioning on here.

It's happened to me too. I never really got chance to use tethering because i only got my iPhone last Saturday, but it wouldve come in handy, especially as there is no wifi that us students can use.

Shouldn't it be mobile.o2.co.uk not idata.02.co.uk?

I had the tethering ipcc, and since upgrading the tethering option has gone. It's a pay as you go phone and looking on the o2 website they do not allow tethering on pay as you go. My wifes is contract, and she now has a button saying activate tethering, which takes you to a o2 web page saying that it's a bolt on, and only available on contract.

Also I think o2 have migrated all pay as you go and contract to the idata settings.
