hi there,

I have got a 8gb iPhone on the o2 network. Can I use the simplicity sim card on this phone and will it work?

Thanks,
Jack

You'd need to unlock the phone first. The good news is there is an unlocking process, from the iPhone Dev-Team. The bad news is that the process has a release date of next Wednesday, so you'll have to wait until then, and I assume is probably a pretty long and arduous process to accomplish this, which includes jailbreaking the phone.

I have a Simplicity SIM in my O2 iphone 2G, works fine

So it worked without you having to unlock the phone first?

For those who don't know, Simplicity is the name of an O2 contract where you pay just for the sim card and can terminate the contract at any time giving notice 30 days in advance.

So basically the question amounts to asking whether any O2 sim will work in an iPhone locked to O2.

Also, is the unlimited web bolt on actually unlimited? I've read in several old threads in this forum that it is limited to 200mb, but then someone who I was talking to at O2 said it was actually unlimited. Then again I've talked to plenty of O2 customer service people who don't have a clue.

It's on the same network (just a different tariff) so it will work fine.
