I have jaibroken my uk iphone to use O2's PAYG sim.

Everything is working, except e-mail.

I cannot seem to access my Gmail, Yahoo or O2 email via the e-mail button on the handset.

Is it possible to connect to e-mail on O2 PAYG??

Thanx in advance

I may be having the same problem as you. is it over gprs/edge that you cannot connect to mail? But over wifi all is ok? Am i correct in thinking this?

As I understand it, you only get WAP access through PAYG sims, which basically means nothing except http so no e-mail, instant messenger, etc, etc

ring o2 and ask for them to check if you have picture messages enabled on your sim as you CAN send picture messages on payg sims, just have to send the pics as a multimedia txt, edge is different to gprs you can have gprs but no edge unless you ask O2 if you can I'm not sure about payg sims as its been that long since I've had one lol

did you by chance look here aswell? https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/383315/

Yeah. Data works fine. What i meant was, as the Iphone does not have mms support & O2 PAYG do not support e-mail, i have no way of sending pictures from the handset

I played around with this and discovered that you can use email on Pay and Go, but only an O2 email account as it will only connect to O2's mail servers. Register an account on o2.co.uk and then set up your email as a POP account with the following:

Incoming
Host Name: mail.o2.co.uk
Username: <your username>@o2.co.uk
Password: <your password>

Outgoing
Host Name: smtp.o2.co.uk
Username: <your username>@o2.co.uk
Password: <your password>

This should work okay over EDGE/GPRS, although their mail servers do seem to be pretty ***** and are always timing out or just refuse to accept my username/password.

Alternatively, you can use any other email account and substitute the outgoing settings with the ones above. You will only be able to receive new mail with Wi-Fi, but you should still be able to send with EDGE/GPRS as you will be using the O2 mail servers.

some emails restrict access through mobile connection (or vice versa) due to security reasons if memory serves and only work on wifi. dont know if that helps.
