Hi All,
I recently used an IPSW file to retain my jailbreak whilst upgrading to 3.1.2 but I lost my carrier logo etc. Now I know its just cosmetic but im going abroad soon and want to see what carrier I am currently on.

o2 have recently unlocked my iPhone 3GS for free. So now I have an official unlocked phone and want to find an IPSW to regain my carrier info and upgrade the phone again to 3.1.2 allowing for it to just update the phone so my baseband/modem firmware is update as per normal by iTunes or whatever.

I'm pretending I know what I mean, but if you get the kist fo what I'm asking can you advise or point me in the right direction of the correct IPSW file for me.

Thanks :D

Sounds like what you want is to restore to official Apple firmware, right? If so, just click the restore button in iTunes, and it will download the firmware if it's not already on your computer.

No, I don't wish to restore back to original iTunes firmware.

I wish to download/install a jailbroken IPSW file for 3.1.2 that retains my unlock and fix's the carrier bug that will work with my unlocked o2 3gs but don't know which IPSW I need. Activate or not Activated etc

Thanks

To fix the missing carrier logo, you need to update the baseband. Therefore, you restore to the official 3.1.2. After that, grab a custom 3.1.2 jailbroken .ipsw NOT activated and restore again.

Retaining your unlock is irrelevant. Any officially unlocked iPhone will always remain unlocked.

I just did this on my O2 unlocked iPhone, literally 10 minutes ago.

Ok so i'll upgrade to an official firmware and then try an NOT activated IPSW.

Can you tell me what IPSW you used please that was not activated? thanks ;)
