I ordered this from Borders Book Store online back on December the 12th. Amazon.com says that it was supposed to be released today. Haven't received a notice that says that it shipped out today but I'm not terribly surprised either. Anyone here from the US that has had their ship out today? I'm anxious to begin digging into it.

I pre-ordered on June 1st from Amazon. I looked at my shipping date and it says Jan 7th. So hopefully it will be in next week sometime.

Just had an email from Amazon that my order from a couple of weeks ago was being delayed from January 6th to the 8th.

Well, I should have ordered from Amazon but I had a Borders Book Store gift card that I placed the order on. I'm thinking about canceling that order and ordering through Amazon though.

I pay all my bills with a Discover card and use the "cash back bonus" points for Borders cards. That used to be great because you would earn twice the gift card amount for your point redemption. Thus, a $20.00 cash back bonus used to get you a $40.00 gift card from Borders. They stopped that though curiously enough. Be nice if Amazon had something like that with Borders. No luck. The list prices on Borders web site are through the roof too.

Hope it ships soon.

Thanks for everyone's patience. The book started shipping last week.

Please post to this forum or email me directly (steve_kochan@mac.com) with any questions or errata. I should be able to get a site together in the next week or so to serve that purpose.

Cheers,

Steve Kochan

I'm in Canada. I ordered from amazon.ca. They will ship it Feb-13!!! Is there a faster way of getting it? I waited so long for it, I dont want to wait more than a month again. Amazon sucks in Canada.

Your books, on the other hand, are awesome. I'm not excellent in english and I can understand everything in your books. There are no french programming books that are even worth opening.

I don't know of any way to get it faster that wouldn't involve paying extra shipping costs. If it's any consolation, I still haven't received any copies of my book from my publisher and had to order it from Amazon myself to get a copy! Nice, huh?

Good luck!

Cheers,

Ordered my copy from Amazon.com on the 3rd of januari and received it on the 8th here in Wellington/NZ. Had it shipped with Fast Courier though as I knew the slower methods would indeed be that! Slowwwww.... It would've taken 3-4 weeks for the package to arrive.

Book looks real good! I'm happy to see it updated with the extra chapters on Cocoa.

Is this book available in electronic format? I find it a lot easier to read from electronic texts, especially if im learning a new programming language.

Well, my book finally came in but not from Borders. I got tired of waiting and just ordered it from Amazon. It got here the next day. I still have yet to receive a notice that it shipped from Borders (when I ordered it on the 12th of December) and they didn't even bother to respond to the query I sent them through their web site. I'm pretty fed up with them. So, I guess I'll just return the book to one of their stores once they finally feel like shipping it. Geez.

I don't think I've seen this available anywhere. You can subscribe to InformIT I believe it is and they have not only this book but several others on different subjects available on-demand. It's too expensive for the frequency at which I'd need to consult it but it's still an option.

If this were available in PDF it'd be nice because I put it on any number of mobile devices and access it anywhere at anytime without having to have the physical book. Don't see that happening though.

It is available through Safari Books Online, but I believe that's a subscription-based service. I don't think they offer individual titles for purchase.

Funny that Steve Kochan seems not aware of it, but this title IS sold individually as a pdf...

Unfortunately, it is with restrictive DRM, so you need to read it with acrobat reader... Not even sure it would work under OSX, I just suppose it would.

Needless to say, I did not buy it at this price and with such restrictions.

Here is the link : http://www.lybrary.com/programming-objectivec-p-4393.html

The approach taken by the pragmatic programmers is much better I think : they do not protect the PDF they distribute in any way, except by formatting them especially for the buyer, inserting his/her name in every page of the book...

Hey this question is for anyone who has read the book (or Steve of course!)

What is the difference between this one and the first one? I'm new to programming and was going to pick one up today but i don't know which one i should get. I'm very new to programming in general. I know basic basic C++ (i can make my computer add 2+2 woot!) but that is all.

Get the newest edition (2nd) since it covers the new features Apple has added to Objective-C 2.0 with Leopard as well as other improvements to the original text (including getting you started with writing an iPhone app if that interests you).

I'm still waiting on this from Amazon.co.uk. My Safari Books Online subscription timed out and now I'm without direction!

They apparently sent it on January 13th. I chose Super Saver but still.. it should be here by now.
