Hi All,

I've just purchased a Mac Mini 2.5Ghz model.

I'm considering installing an SSD, a Crucial M4 most likely.

However, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a UK supplier for iFixit's parts? Particularly the cable? Although their kit is neat, it runs to $100 - approx £70 before tax, so its getting pretty expensive!

Any alternative suggestions for someone in the UK?

I literally just got the cable today from here, out of stock again now but you can order for when they are in again, delivery was very fast, despatched yesterday, arrived today. I actually have a crucial M4 and the stock drive in there, I ended up sticking the crucial in the lower position (the position I bought the cable for) as I was struggling to get it to fit the other way round, I kept the stock drive in the stock position using the mounting posts and the M4 is just loose under that, there's so little room though that it's not really loose. I wouldn't bother trying to get any other bits myself, maybe if you were installing two mechanical drives it would be worth it, but not if you but the ssd in the second bay.

Thanks Jase, excellent advise - do all that is needed is the cable and drive - simples - plus presumably the right torq driver for the screws (I'm assuming this is reasonably standard)!

I guess I could always pack out the SSD with some sticky foam to stop it moving around if needs be.
